About the Item

This beautiful belt buckle is a fine example of Norwegian craftsmanship from the renowned maker Marius Hammer, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The piece features vibrant royal blue guilloche enamel over a sunburst-engraved ground, beautifully framed with a delicate row of white enamel pearl beading and finished with intricate twisted wire detailing along the border. Measuring 6.5 cm in length and 3.9 cm in width, this buckle embodies the elegant design and superb enameling technique for which Hammer is celebrated. The reverse is hallmarked and retains its original fittings, with sterling silver construction confirmed by the ".930S" and Norwegian assay marks. A rare and highly collectible item, this belt buckle reflects both the aesthetic and technical mastery of one of Norway's most important silversmiths.
