About the Item

Fabergé Siam Egg, 18k Yellow Gold, Translucent Yellow Guilloché Vitreous Enamel, Diamonds 0.735 ct, Agate, Garnet, Malachite The Siam Egg, created in 1998, recalls Fabergé’s historic trade relations with the Far East. Among his important patrons around 1900 was the King of Siam, who commissioned several notable pieces from Carl Fabergé. The exotic design of this egg reflects that connection. On the lower half of the egg stands a carved agate elephant with ruby-red garnet eyes, ridden by a Siamese equestrienne in gold. The egg is open at the top, where the upper half is represented by an ornate baldachin of yellow gold, richly decorated with enamelled pendilia in green and blue. The baldachin is supported by an arch set with diamonds, adding brilliance to the composition. The lower half of the egg is covered in translucent yellow enamel over a guilloché ground. It is mounted on a polished circular malachite base, framed in gold. The egg is supported by four sculpted elephant-head mounts in gold, joined by twisted posts and chains. About the Fabergé workmaster VICTOR MAYER For two decades (1989 to 2009) the renowned German jewellery firm VICTOR MAYER was authorised to create exquisite Fabergé jewels and objects of art under worldwide exclusive licence. As such, VICTOR MAYER continued the tradition of the Fabergé workmaster for twenty years. Today, and while it no longer holds a worldwide exclusive license in respect of jewellery, VICTOR MAYER remains one of Fabergé’s valued and trusted suppliers of certain jewels. About vitreous enamel: The inimitably luminous colours are literally created "in the fire": layer by layer, enamel is carefully fired in at 800 degrees Celsius. During guilloching, the finest wave patterns are engraved into the gold, creating a unique depth effect. Vitreous means made of glass: the ancient technique is almost forgotten today and Victor Mayer is perhaps the last manufactory to master it at the highest level. Availability: This piece of jewellery is in our stock and can be shipped immediately. The Egg Object will be delivered with an original Fabergé box and certificates.
