About the Item
This beautiful seal in the shape of a dog with its matching watch key was made in France in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. It would have graced a French gentleman's waistcoat as part of his watchchain. It is made out of 18 karat yellowgold, the dogs eyes are set with two small ruby cabochons.
The dog is stting wwith his head up on an oval gold plate mounted onto a thick oval heliotrope also known as bloodstone. The stone is engraved with two letters, D D in gothic script. From an eyelet at the back of the dog colar an 18 karat gold matching watchkey is suspended. The engraved watchkey is fitted with a hexagonal bloodstone.
The watchkey meassures 3 cm.
