14K Gold Lapis Cabochon Gold 22K Nugget Ring, circa Mid-Century
About the Item
A vivid blue lapis cabochon is bezel set into a halo of 22k gold nuggets. The stone is a deep, well-saturated cobalt blue, while the gold nuggets bring richness and texture to the surface of the ring. The effect is stunning, and the two elements compliment each other beautifully. The 14k gold band splits into three, adding a hint of drama and elegantly framing the lapis centerpiece. A bold cocktail ring, true blue!
This type of nugget work around the border suggests the ring was made in Alaska circa the 1940’s or 1950’s.
The ring weighs 7 grams. The cabochon, which has a high domed profile, and surrounding gold nugget frame are 8mm x 22mm x 16.5mm. Unmarked but ring acid tests to being 14K gold with the nuggets testing at 22K.
