1.98 Carat Tsavorite and Diamond Gold Ring

About the Item

Garnets are the birthstone for the month of January. The family of Garnets can be very confusing. They are found all over the world and come in many colors and are members of the cubic crystal system, all of them are single reflective. An important thing to know to identify the gem is that "Color is a good place to start, but doesn't mean much" The color of Garnets overlap with many other gemstones. Such is the green Grossular Garnet. First found in the Tsavo Game Park in Kenya gave the stone the name Tsavorite in the trade. This Tsavorite Garnet and Diamond ring is 14-karat white gold with 86 round Diamonds weighing 0.86 carats. The Diamonds are G/H color with SI clarity. The center-stone is a 1.98 oval Tsavorite Garnet (we think from the Voi mine in Kenya). The ring is a sturdy outside supplied mounting, it is new, size 6, never been worn and can be sized.

We thought that this sparkly VS grade Tsavorite Garnet deserved a brilliant frame, so we set the medium dark green Tsavorite in a 14-karat yellow gold ring with a double row of Diamonds.. The ring has a 80 Diamonds with a total of 1.29 carats VS grade and G color. The basket is showing off with some small glittery diamonds. The ring is a size 7 and we are happy to size the ring to your needs. Elke loves Tsavorite Garnets and thinks, that in most cases they are lovelier than emeralds and they are not oiled, heated treated or otherwise enhanced. This particular stone was mined in Tanzania about 5 years ago and cut to a 2.32 carat cushion cut. We like to photograph some of the colored stone rings...

When Elke saw this bypass ring, she thought it would look great with a pair of pear Tsavorite Garnets. So instead of making a pair of earrings, we set this 2.19 carats pair in a ring. The ring is done in 14-karat white gold with 15 small baguette diamonds with a total weight of 0.43 carats. The medium green center-stones are Tsavorite Garnet from Tanzania. This material is found in the same place as the Tanzanites and as fewer Tanzanites are being found so goes the rarity of the Tsavorite Garnets. The ring is sizable and is a US size 7 1/4. The picture with the blue background shows the ring under...

With the similar look of a blue Sapphire, the stone is a great alternative in jewelry for a bold blue look, but not necessarily a good stone for an engagement ring, due to the Mohs' hardness of 6 1/2 to 7. All blue Tanzanites are commonly heat-treated so the yellowish and brown tints vanish and the blue and purple deepen. Tanzania is the only known location for top gem grade Tanzanite...
