About the Item

To find large untreated sapphires has become difficult, as nearly all sapphires available on the market today have received heat or radiation treatment or been filled with coloured glass so as to visually enhance the colour and purity of the gemstones. Therefore, we are especially pleased to be able to offer this exceptional ring featuring an unusually large untreated sapphire. A large, faceted sapphire in a soft shade of blue is the focal point of the ring, weighing in at 22 carats with a very good transparency. Depending on the intensity of the light, the shade of blue may appear brighter or softer. The ring itself is made of platinum, the most fashionable precious metal of the 1930s. A sleek chaton setting holds the large blue sapphire in place. Tiered architectural ring shoulders, set with a total of 38 diamonds of fine quality, flank the gemstone. The shank is sturdy enough to balance out the large ring face, yet still delicately made, appearing to be comprised of three bands. We were able to source the ring here in Berlin from a private estate. It is in very good condition. The quality and natural origin of the central sapphire have been certified by a renowned gemological institute in Idar-Oberstein, Germany's centre of gemstone cutting and evaluation. The gemological certificate will be delivered with the ring, along with a house certificate on the ring's age issued by one of our art historians.
