Victorian 15K Gold Pearl, Garnet and Demantoid Garnet Ring, with Heart Shoulders
About the Item
A Victorian pearl, almandine garnet, demantoid garnet, and yellow gold ring, comprising three half pearls, two almandine garnets, and four demantoid garnets, in 15 karat yellow gold.
My favourite thing about this Victorian 15K Yellow Gold Pearl and Garnet Ring, is the beautiful combination of gemstones. What’s yours? Perhaps the heart shaped shoulders? Or the engraved band?
This Victorian ring is set with three lustrous pearls, with the largest at the centre. The pearls are pale, lustrous, and shimmering, and well-matched with one another. The pearls are interspersed with 4 cushion-shaped demantoid garnets, which are a luxurious forest green. A pair of cushion shaped almandine garnets are set to the ends, and are a soft, sumptuous pinkish-red hue. The gemstones are encased within a closed-back setting, and the stones are raised on a scrolling, ribbon-like gallery. The shoulders of the ring are shaped with a scrolling, heart-shaped motif, open at the centre, which lead to an engraved band. The band is engraved with an elegant scrolling motif, a coveted design element which was popular in early to mid-Victorian rings. The ring is in great condition, with some wrinkling to the pearls, as would be expected in a ring of this age. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The setting of the ring measures 7.2mm long and 15.5mm wide. The ring rises 3.2mm off the hand, and the band measures 2.5mm wide at the back.
