About the Item
This is a stunning early antique Egyptian Revival Ring with Lapis Lazuli engraved with Arabic or Heiroglyphics in 18 Karat Gold. The fabulous ring has a wonderful blue octagonal lapis center with elegant engraving which I believe is arabic writing. The lapis is set in a cut down collet. The ring shank is a fabulous scroll open work design in 18 Karat Gold. It is very rare to find the early antique Egyptian Revival jewels, and the combination with the engraved lapis with the stunning gold work is extraordinary.
For centuries, Ancient Egypt has held the fascination of the public and continues to inspire artists and designers alike. With the discoveries of Egyptian tombs, and the treasures within, in the middle of the 19th century and early 20th centuries, the exotically opulent lives of the Pharaohs were beyond anyone’s imagination. Of all the precious objects unearthed in the tombs, the lavish jewels were perhaps the most fascinating for their extravagance and never-before-seen symbolism. The jewelry embraced the vivid contrasting colors, motifs, and symbols more daringly than ever before. Whether the jewels were complete, faithful reproductions or real artifacts preciously decorated in similar style, the Egyptian Revival jewelry is lavish and magnificent.
The top of the ring is 15mm by 15mm. it sits 5mm above the finger.
The ring is a size 4 US (H 1/2 UK) and can be easily resized if desired.
