About the Item
The seven pointed shooting star ring is hand carved from wax and cast in 22k gold. The seven pointed star is a RIMA JEWELS' signature and central to Rocio's investigations and offerings within the conceptual framework of alchemy.
The alchemist's practice since its inception has cloaked itself in mystery and central to their philosophy was the idea that in truth there is transformation.
The latin phrase Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem (VITRIOL) was central to these core beliefs and loosely translates as: upon visiting the interior of the earth, and by rectifying (distilling/purifying) what you find there, you will discover the hidden stone (philosopher’s stone). The shorthand for this concept is VITRIOL: a seven letter acronym and acrostic poem. Each point in this VITRIOL star corresponds to the aforementioned latin motto and as a whole references one's commitment to discovery, beauty, knowledge, and truth.

RIMA JEWELS
RIMA JEWELS is the cumulative work and ongoing explorations of contemporary studio jeweler Rocío Inès Marsyas' metal smithing practice that began nearly two decades ago as an apprentice to a fourth generation jeweler. The collections, limited edition pieces, and custom works marry an array of interests including the early history of alchemical practice, Roman antiquities and the richly textured history of vanitas paintings and their jewelry counterparts. Each collection and individual piece is meticulously crafted in Rocío Inès' Manhattan studio with the delicacy, care, and discerning design considerations true to the artist's imprimatur. Textures, contours, and the minutiae particular to the materials used are celebrated and never overworked in Ms. Rocío Marsyas' atelier. RIMA JEWELS brings you into the fold by hinting at process while signaling to a variety of histories and their contemporary relevance.
