Edwardian Platinum Old European Cut Diamond Navette Shaped Ring

About the Item

This stunning Edwardian diamond engagement ring features approximately 2.5 carats of Old European Cut diamonds. The diamonds are strategically packed into the navette shape, giving the appearance of a surface full of sparkle. Flanking the sides are two baguette diamonds that lead into a delicately engraved band; the engraving continues halfway around the band. The central focus of the ring is the large center stone with large facets that create the beautiful play of light that Old European Cut diamonds are known for. On the top and bottom of the navette are two more Old European Cut diamonds. Four tiny diamonds fill in the space between the three larger stones, and the intricate bead setting creates a sparkle throughout the whole piece. When the ring is viewed from the side, it has a scalloped carriage reminiscent of a bridge that allows light through the ring and allows you to see the diamonds through the setting. All the diamonds within the navette shape are natural antique Old European Cut diamonds. The largest stone is 7.25 x 4.11 mm and weighs approximately 1.4 carats. It is G-H in color and SLI in clarity. At the top and bottom of the ring face are two diamonds that measure 4.5 x 3 mm and combined weigh approximately .8 of a carat. The four tiny diamonds in the ring face are 1.5 mm each. There are two natural antique baguette shaped diamonds in the band of the ring—each one measures 4 x 2 mm and combined they weigh .28 of a carat. The entire ring contains approximately 2.5 carats of diamonds. The face of the ring measures 19.5 x 7.85 mm. The band is 1.8 mm thick. The ring weighs 4.06 grams. The ring is marked on the interior as 10% irradiated platinum. The ring is currently a ring size 8. Because the engraving only goes halfway around the band, the ring can be resized within reason. Circa 1910-1915. An exquisite period piece that could be used as intended as a beautiful engagement ring or could be worn as a standalone piece.
