About the Item

Our Mr. Snake was cast by Eytan Brandes using a mold made from a Victorian-era ring. The original ring was 9k and had ruby eyes. Eytan's updated version is 18 karat gold and features diamond eyes plus a bright white diamond for Mr. Snake to chomp on while he surveys the world from the comfort of your finger. Eytan also scored deeper "scales" into the outer surface to give Mr. Snake more texture. Eytan added some contemporary touches that don't affect the look of the ring but which make it more wearable: he added a blank panel in the back to keep Mr. Snake's coil stable and allow for easier resizing. He also filled in the interior surface (which was originally concave) to give the ring more heft and make it more comfortable to wear. The result is a great-looking, grown-up ring that combines a classic Victorian design with Eytan's modern craftsmanship. This is only the second time Eytan has cast this ring for 1stDibs (thus, he's Mr. Snake II). For this latest go-around, he used slightly larger diamonds for the eyes and bulked up the head a bit. With every casting comes little improvements and improvisations, so while Mr. Snake may have one or two cousins, he has no identical twins. MEASUREMENTS: Mr. Snake is just a little over 1/2" side in the front (at the widest point). He tapers to 1/4" in the back. He averages about 2.3mm thick. DIAMONDS: The diamond eyes are about one point each. The diamond in the snake's mouth is about 10 points. All diamonds are full cut, bright and clean high-quality melee. SIZE: Currently, Mr. Snake is a 6.5; we will resize at no charge between sizes 5 and 8. WEIGHTS: Total ring weight: 12.3 grams Diamond weight: 12 points (0.12 carats) MARKS: The inside of the band is stamped "18K" and signed by Eytan.
