About the Item

195 years old Signet Intaglio Ring featuring a natural red- spotted Gray - Blue Sardonyx stone with hand-cut heraldic depiction of three smoking Grenades flanked with Lilies on the shield under a Knight's Helmet lavishly decorated with plumage. On top - Crest of a Lion sejant-rampant with forked tail, holding a smoking Grenade and a Lily. I'm not familiar with this coat of Arms. In finest used condition, stone with very minor scratches on its surface. Crown is 26mm x 24mm x 5.7mm deep. Stone is 23 mm x 21 mm x 5 mm deep / ca. 15 ct. , with open back. Sardonyx is among the stones that are considered to be ideal mediums for the art of intaglio and relief carving. Very well done hand carving work - it makes a fine impression on soft Plasticine or seal wax. Swedish hallmarks, 18K, crowned king, three crowns, date combination is Y3 / hand-made in 1829. Size: Ø 9.5 US / 19.41 mm. Most likely it was made for a Man, but the design of this ring is unisex and it will look on the finger of a Woman if the size is right. It can be sized up or down for additional payment. Weight : 10.5 grams > Most of the items that we sell are not new at all if not stated otherwise.
