About the Item

Roman Coin Ring. In this custom designed fine silver signet ring, a bronze Roman Coin is set in a bezel. The shank displays a year in Roman numerals. The inspiration for this ring comes from subjectivity and symbolism of Modernist Art. The idea that behind a physical world there is a spiritual reality. In all my work I am guided by ancient manual techniques of jewelry making, such as granulation, fusing, and metal forming. These techniques were introduced by pre-Classical Sumerian, Mycenaean and Minoan cultures and built upon during Greek Classical and Hellenistic periods when naturalistic forms were introduced. My designs are influenced by the skill and the laborious attention to detail paid by the artisans throughout thousands of years of jewelry design. While inspired by history, this ring is for a modern person. The idea for it originally came as a graduation gift for my daughter, who feels a personal connection with this ring since it displays her year of birth in Roman numerals. ---Antique Roman bronze coin ***The coins I use are antique coins. ---Fine silver is pure silver of .999 concentration, vs sterling silver, which contains .925 concentration. I love it for its color and texture. It is more malleable and oxidizes/darkens much less than sterling silver. When you place an order you will be able to select among the coins we have in stock or, if you prefer, to provide your own. The year can be of your birth or any other significance. Due to the handmade and custom nature of this item, the ring you will receive will be slightly different than the one pictured. No two rings are alike. One-of-a-kind Entirely handmade. I have over 15 years of experience as a goldsmith and produce all the pieces that are sold by AB Jewelry NYC. I stamp the metal and stand behind the quality of jewelry that comes out of my shop. While I source the coins, pearls, and stones from reputable sources I cannot certify or authenticate them and use them for their visual quality only. This item is made to order.
