About the Item

Signet intaglio Ring featuring banded / two layered Carnelian (type of Agate) stone with heraldic depiction of a Sword in the middle of the shield under the crown of Nobility. This is a Coat of Arms of Swedish noble family of Gyllensvärd ( Golden Sword) I have one more ring with a symbol of Sword but on the shield under Nobility crown that also used to belong to the member of Gyllensvärd kin. You may still find it in my inventory. The body of the stone is dark Orange with a layer of light blue on its surface measuring 12 mm x 11 x 3,3 mm / ca. 5 ct. Among with Blood-stone, Agate stone is considered to be an ideal medium for the art of intaglio and relief carving. This ring dates to ca. XIX -early XX cent. Very well done hand carving work - it makes fine impression on soft Plasticine or seal wax. The carved sword is just 5 mm long. Hallmarked /tested 18K. Size : Ø 6.5 US / 16.92 mm. It can be sized up + 2.5 US sizes without much change of bands shape, but after US 9 band will become oval shaped. Sizing is possible for additional payment In great used condition, stone with minor chip and micro scratches on its surface. The band is not hollow but solid mass of 18K Gold, weight of the ring is 10.5 grams > Most of the items that we sell are not new at all if not stated otherwise. Stones with closed backs may seem darker than stones with open backs. Such nuances of color perception do not give any excuse to claim item to be not as described. " there are inclusions that I didn't notice " "it looks smaller than I expected" ! Unfortunately Internet sales do not allow us to see the items in person before we get them by post. CUSTOM WORK : About Resizing: Resizing of rings can be done on request. The work will be done by experienced professional jeweler. Note: We will not be responsible for any physical/color changes that may occur as a result of heating of the stones during the process of resizing. We will not be responsible if in the process of resizing or customization any stone on the ring becomes loose, if any deformation occurs in general or if band of the ring changes shape or becomes deformed. Polishing of the band is always a final step of any resizing but machinery used for polishing causes vibration that old rings (with prongs for example ) often do not like at all.
