George III Sterling Silver Straining Spoon by Peter, Ann & William Bateman
About the Item
This large sterling silver straining spoon was made in London in 1801 and is a beautiful example of Georgian silver from the early 19th Century. The spoon is assayed for manufacture in 1801 by Peter, Ann & William Bateman, of the famed Bateman silversmithing family. Very simple in its design the spoon features an ornate crest and monogram to the handle 'OPMH' which sits above an engraved mythical sea creature.
