Aucoc was a leading Parisian art nouveau jeweler and goldsmith, working with his father and brother André. The Aucoc family firm at 6 Rue de la Paix was established in Paris in 1821 and was royal supplier of the house of King Louis Philippe, the House of Orléans, Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie. The shop is mentioned in the first chapter of The Lady of the Camellias ( French: La Dame aux camélias, published in 1848 ). André Aucoc was the director between 1887 and 1911. He participated in the Universal Exposition of 1900. The Aucoc company was among the most innovative in the domains of silverwork and jewellery in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Aucoc worked for Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie as well as numerous other European courts. From 1874 to 1876, René Lalique was an apprentice to Aucoc. Lalique would later become a defining figure in the art nouveau movement. The business left the hands of the Aucoc family in 1932. This table mirror is in original condition, minor signs of use. The silver-plated bronze is in very good condition, see detail pictures. An exceptional Rococo mirror of renowned origin, signed and in original condition. Moreover, this Rococo style is of timeless design. A special and rare example, not second on the market.
