Set of 2 Large Antique Hanau Sterling Silver Bowls British Import Muller

About the Item

Set of 2 antique Hanau sterling silver large footed bowls. Large and substantial bowls are lightly hammered with an etched knight design. Each sits atop has 3 fish shaped feet. Each bowl has slightly different hallmarks, but the hallmarks attribute the bowls to Hanau, Germany. One bowl is marked with just Ludwig Neresheimer as the makers mark, the other has mixed maker marks for Ludwig Neresheimer and Gebruder Dingeldein. Bowls were imported to the UK in 1909 to Chester and 1911 to London by Berthold Muller. Bowls measure approx 5 3/8" high, 8 3/4" in diameter. Weighs approx 1796g, 1155dwt, 57.75toz total. Fully hallmarked on each bowl: first bowl has acorn (Chester import) 925 (silver purity) J (1909 date mark) BM (Berthold Muller importer) n (Ludwig Neresheimer makers mark) lion and plant are Hanau hallmarks. The other bowl as 2 sets of hallmarks: first is BM (Berthold Muller importer) upside down leo mark (London import) 925 (silver purity) q (1911 date mark). The other set includes BM (Berthold Muller importer) n (Ludwig Neresheimer makers mark) lion Hanau mark, boat (makres mark for Gebruder Dingeldein). All hallmarks can be clearly seen in photos. Very good condition with slight scratches on the interior of the bowls and some light tarnish. Overall beautiful condition. Will be shipped US Priority Mail with insurance. CL121621/17KCS
