Renaissance Revival sword jabot-brooch.
An exceptional and very rare jabot type brooch, created in England during the Victorian era, back in the 1880. This piece is fantastic and has been crafted with renaissance revival patterns in the shape of a miniature sword with jewels, in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with accents in carved platinum. The sword is well proportionate and made with gorgeous details. It is completely decorated with twisted woven wires, engravings and chiseled designs. The sword sheath, the grip pommel and the rain-guard are embellished with a fantastic assortment of eleven natural earth mined gemstones; such white colorless diamonds and vivid green demantoids garnets. It is fitted with a sheath to slide the blade very tight, which is attached to a decorative security chain. This magnificent piece should be an important addition to any serious jewelry collection and will be a great conversation piece when you display it with your dress or on the lapel of your jacket.
Demantoids
Demantoid is the green gemstone variety of the mineral andradite, a member of the garnet group of minerals. Andradite is a calcium- and iron-rich garnet. Ferric iron is the cause of the green in the stone. Although garnets have been known since ancient times, the demantoid variety was not discovered until 1868 in Russia's western central Ural Mountains. The find was an alluvial deposit about 110 km from Ekaterinburg, north by northwest along the Bobrovka River, near the village of Elizavetinskoye. Miners were immediately stunned by the highly refractive nature of the gem material, which is atypical for garnet. They began comparing it to diamond and referred to it as "demantoid", from the old German Demant, meaning diamond. The reason is obvious, with its high brilliance and dispersion. However, as demantoid garnets are quite rare and found in so few locations, they can command quite high prices, especially if they have a particularly lovely horsetail inclusion. A superb and unusual glass cameo ring made in Paris, circa 1960. The ring is rather large in scale, crafted in 18K gold and weighing a seriously impressive 29 grams. In the centre rests a bright orange “pate de verre” (moulded glass paste) cameo with a frosted glass effect to the front and a faceted underside. The cameo depicts the bust of a woman in classical style wearing a wreath of flowers and grapes.
The ring head features an openwork gallery which takes the form of circles which are enamelled in black. There is a white and black enamelled floral motif on each shoulder with chased crosshatching in typical Renaissance style.
This impressive ring is particularly unusual due to the fact that incorporates a variety of revival styles into the design, for example the 17th century style shoulders with the Art Deco era frosted glass classical bust.

Magnificent antique pendant, made up with several pieces carved from natural Italian red coral from the Mediterranean sea. This rare piece has been created most probably in Napoles around the 1850. The intricate carvings are mounted from the back with discrete wires crafted in yellow gold of 14 karats and it is fitted with two rings to slide on, in a thin delicate chain. The workmanship and multiple carvings on this piece are magnificent and extremely detailed. They show the portrait of the flora muse adorned with fruits, vines, flowers and leaves. She, in turn, is flanked by two plump cherubs dressed only in ribbons, who represent the Greek-Roman god of wine, Bacchus. They are holding multiple bunches of grapes. Below this composition hang three ornately carved bunches of grapes.

This Locket Pendant is a magnificent piece of Austro-Hungarian Garnet, Turquoise and Amethyst jewelry. It is in the Renaissance Revival style and dates to circa 1870. The gems are all set in silver gilt as was the custom of the Austro-Hungarian jewels. In the center is a gorgeous Bohemian Garnet cabochon. The garnet is 9mm by 7mm. Surrounding the garnet are Amethyst, Turquoise and Pearls all set in raised cut down collets. The gems continue onto the bale with a Pearl, Turquoise and Amethyst. The locket opens to reveal places for two photos if desired. I love the way the gems are set in the raised settings on the locket creating a visually stunning and dramatic piece.
