1914 OMEGA Vintage Ladies Miniature Pendant Platinum, Diamond & Cameo Watch - Omega Papers

Following after our exceptional Vacheron & Constantin watch made in book form and continuing on the same theme of objects of virtue, today's offering showcases this exceedingly beautiful Omega pendant watch.
Complete with exquisite cherub playing a lyre cameo, bejeweled with diamonds, all set within a platinum case with mirrored lattice design on the back, it is truly stunning.
Fully crafted by Omega and the artisans they hired, it appears to bear French hallmarks. It's a watch that could easily be found in a museum.
It is gorgeously designed and perfectly executed with its original platinum case and even a fancy diamond set bow. The central blue and white cameo of a cherub is set against a high-polished background that serves as a mirrored backdrop making a striking presentation. The mirrored background is covered with a finely decorated platinum lattice design.
Powering the watch is its original and very fine Omega movement.
We were fortunate to acquire it in all-original condition. Its case presents in excellent condition with hardly any wear. Its dial is untouched. It is just short of mint with one very light hairline.
A removable, later period Italian made 14K white gold necklace that measures 17.75 inches has previously been fitted to it.
One of our Master Watchmakers has disassembled its fine movement down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Accompanying the watch is a letter from Mr. John Diethelm written in 1973, Omega's long-time brand history and archive expert, attesting to the watch's originality and matching movement and case serial numbers. Alongside Omega Museum Curator Marco Richon, Mr. Diethelm has assisted in purchasing watches from us in the past for the Omega Museum.

Case condition: Excellent condition with hardly any wear. Remains of two small nubs at the bottom only noticeable upon close scrutiny that appear to for a bail present and then later removed. Excellent engraving detail. Enamel detail is fully intact.

Omega
It’s a celebrated part of Omega lore that the brand’s Speedmaster Professional Chronograph was the first watch to make a lunar landing. But the universal love for vintage Omega watches isn't confined to astronomers, and there’s more to the company’s heritage than the story of the Moonwatch.
The house’s origins date to 1848, when Swiss watchmaker Louis Brandt first set up shop. His sons Louis-Paul and César took over after his death, and in 1894, the pair developed an intriguing new movement.
Not only was it highly accurate, but every part was replaceable, making it easy for any professional to service. The Brandts called their movement the Omega, and as its popularity spread, they changed their company’s name to that of its flagship product.
In 1917, the British Royal Flying Corps designated Omega as an official supplier, and during World War II it became the principal watch supplier for the British forces and their allies. These commissions further strengthened Omega’s commitment to ensuring its products’ reliability under extreme conditions. In 1948, it launched the versatile Seamaster. Developed as a dive watch, the Seamaster proved its durability at high altitudes and freezing temperatures, as well. (Here is the 1stDibs guide to spotting a fake Omega Seamaster.)
Thanks in part to its rugged reputation and Omega’s links to the British military, it became James Bond’s watch of choice in 1995, appearing in GoldenEye and every succeeding Bond movie; it returned in 2021’s No Time to Die. Nevertheless, the most famous Omega by far is the Speedmaster, introduced in 1957. The first chronograph to display its tachymeter scale on the bezel instead of the dial for easier readability, it was quickly adopted by engineers and scientists.
Worn by Buzz Aldrin during the 1969 Apollo 11 lunar mission, it’s the only watch certified by NASA for extravehicular activity (space walks) — and, as far as we know, the only one approved by the Russian space agency, too.

Today's offering showcases this very fine IWC Portofino ladies watch in gorgeous condition with original papers and booklets.
In design and construction it is very similar to the Portofino's available new today.
As the IWC website states, "Over the past three decades, the Portofino watch family has established itself as one of IWC Schaffhausen's most successful families and is equally popular with both men and women. This is due to both the steady demand for classic models and the puristic design of the Portofino models.
The origins of the large minimalistic case design for the Portofino can be traced back to the 1970's, when the Lepine pocket watch became the inspiration for the entire watch family. The 'pocket-watch-style-wristwatch' was presented in 1984 with the name 'Portofino'. Since then, this watch family, with timepieces that retain their value and, above all, remain timeless, has been a permanent part of IWC's collection."
Powering it is one of the company's quartz movements that never needs to be wound.
We are pleased to offer it in such gorgeous condition - it presents as a 9.6 out of 10. Our photos couldn't quite do it justice. Its case and dial present as mint. On the wrist it presents essentially like new.
A Master Watchmaker has performed any needed servicing. For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
