Art Deco Curved Moeris Ladies Сheckered Enamel Watch Box, 1910
About the Item
Art Deco unique enamel сheckered design lady's wristwatch. Presented in a period-correct box that has a special insert to hold it upright. The craftsmanship is of the highest level, even the sides are engraved. Both the case and the movement signed and stamped.
Amazingly difficult to create were the chess (checked) black white enamel which is curved to fit the shape of the hand. Literally no manufacturer could achieve this quality back in the times..
Moeris was formed in 1893, and was purchased by Tissot sometime after 1977. Moeris was considered a higher mid-range brand.
They became significantly more known amongst the horological community once they were contacted by the British Ministry of Defence to produce watches for the Army Trade Pattern pieces to be issued to officers fighting in the Second World War.
Well worth a fine jewelry collection.
