LIFETIME SERVICE COMMITMENT This is the watch that made Franck Muller famous. This piece, likely done for the Russian market has a hand-made case and a dial done in Sterling Silver with kiln fired enamel numbers. The movement was supplied to the casemakers in Russia by Longines.. However, many houses supplied watch movements for the enormous Russian market. The classic tonneau shaped watch was first presented by Cartier around 1910. He was inspired when he saw barrels on docks in Marceau France., hence the name "tonneau" which is barrel in French. The Tonneau is still in the Cartier line today. This is a large watch in excellent condition and it has just been serviced by our team. It is a distinctive looking watch. The company was founded in 1832 by Auguste Agassiz, a Swiss watchmaker. He was also the brother of renowned biologist Louis Agassiz. Agassiz started the company with two partners, lawyers Henri Raiguel and Florian Morel. The company's original name was Raiguel Jeune & Cie. In 1846, Raigeul and Morel retired from the watch industry, leaving Agassiz as sole company head. Several years later, Agassiz brought in his bright, enterprising nephew, trained economist Ernest Francillon, into the business. Francillon was the mastermind behind several impressive innovations that would distinguish the company from its competitors. In 1880, Francillon trademarked the Longines name and its winged hourglass logo. The winged hourglass is a symbol of precision and timekeeping, and it has become one of the most recognizable logos in the watch industry. In 1912, Longines became the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games. The company has held this position ever since, and it has been involved in every Olympic Games since then. Longines has also been the official timekeeper of many other major sporting events, including the World Championships in Athletics, the Formula One World Championship, and the America's Cup. It's not just a timepiece, it's a gorgeous, luxurious and hand-crafted piece of historical fine jewelry. 56 diamonds, 2.0cttw. With its tiered rows of 16 round-cut glittering diamonds reaching from either side of the platinum case to the lugs, the design was likely inspired by the iconic terraced crown of the Chrysler Building in New York City. If the diamond and platinum case weren't luxe enough, the original watch band is comprised of two buckles set with 10 diamonds, leading to 30 chevron-shaped platinum links with milgrain detailing, each set with their own diamond as well!
