The region’s beaches, umbrellas, floats, and figures are iconic in the quiet and intimate paintings of Robertson, but it is the afternoon Bay Area light that takes center stage, as it interacts with the landscape to create the real magic. Her oil paintings and watercolors have an affinity with the American Realists, the Impressionists, and the Pointillists such as Seurat. Joseph Earl Schrack American (1890-1973)
Born in Pottstown, PA on Feb. 26, 1890. Joseph Schrack studied at the AIC, Art Students League of NYC under Robert Henri. He later continued his studies at the John Herron Art Institute, Indianapolis, the University of Art, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Art Institute of Chicago, and courses with the Hans Hoffman School in Munich Germany. While he was in Europe in the early 1930's he also traveled to Capri, Italy.
In 1934 he travelled to San Diego, CA and continued to paint at the Balboa University and Fine Arts Gallery, San Diego. His illustrations appeared in Liberty, McCalls, and Century magazines. He taught at the San Diego Fine Arts Gallery for many years before his demise there on July 16, 1973.

'Migrants' by Willard Dixon. These paintings are generally taken from small black and white newspaper photos from Willard Dixon’s daily reading of the news. He changes the images somewhat by cropping them, taking things out, adding color, etc. But the image is definitely something seen originally by someone else. “I must say”, says Dixon, “I have rather strong feelings about these images myself. I see them at least in part as an homage to the intrepid photographers on the front lines who are telling truth to the world about what’s actually going on out there.”
