Large Antique Blue and White Dutch Delft Charger with Birds and Flower Basket
By Delft
Located in Katonah, NY
This blue and white Dutch Delft charger was hand-painted in deep cobalt blue in the 18th century, circa 1780. The central scene features a pair of birds in flight above a basket brimming with full blooms and leafy stems. The birds—elegantly rendered with wings extended—add a sense of movement and vitality to the design. The flower basket is painted with expressive brushwork, creating a beautiful and balanced composition. Surrounding the central reserve is a wide border of scrolling foliate motifs and stylized floral panels. This charger exemplifies the refined decorative tradition of 18th-century Delftware. Its tin-glazed surface enhances the depth of the blue pigment, and the expressive brushwork throughout reveals the painter's skill. Dimensions: 14" diameter Condition: Excellent—very minor expected wear consistent with age Decoration: Birds in flight, flower basket, and scrolling floral border Price: $980 Material: Tin-glazed earthenware (Delftware) Style: Dutch Delft, Chinoiserie-inspired decoration Origin: Netherlands Date: 18th century, circa 1780 Key Features   • Hand-painted scene with birds and blooming basket   • Expressive brushwork and deep cobalt blue decoration   • Wide floral border with scrolling foliate motifs   • Tin-glazed surface characteristic of Delftware   • Reverse shows three stilt marks from traditional 18th-century kiln firing   • Fine example of Dutch Delft painting...

Kifu uses handmade techniques of elaborate inlay patterns of shagreen, shells, semi-precious stones, materials she experienced as a child growing up in her parent’s studio, but interpreted in a younger quirkier way reflecting her youth. From her "jewelry inspired knobs" on decorative boxes, gold bar boxes and an extravagant inlay pattern mix of shagreen and shell inspired by galactic constellations, as seen on her enormous round mirror...

Lívia Gorka Hungarian Ceramist Mid-Century Modern Hand Thrown Wall Plate, 1960s
By Livia Gorka
Located in Miami, FL
Mid-Century Modern Decorative Plate by Hungarian artist Gorka Livia (1925-2011). This plate like all of her ceramics is hand thrown and has a freeform feel due the uneven shape of the vessel which is almost oblong. The color is mustard yellow decorated with two large stylized fish in black. Pisces? In the image of the back, it looks like dirty spots but is actually where the glaze was thinly applied and the clay color shows through. It was made to hang and a wire loop was incorporated unto the back. The plate dates from the 1960s. Incised on back - GL HUNGARY Underglaze a1/F or Gl/F on back Livia trained in her father's atelier, Gèza Gorka...

Rare Set of Seven Japanese Cloisonné Enamel Sashimi Plates In Box, Ando Jubei
By Ando Jubei
Located in Queens, NY
Rare Japanese Ando Jubei Cloisonné Enamel Set of Seven Sashimi Plates / Dishes with Original Fitted Wooden Case, Circa 1930–1940 A rare and complete set of Seven Japanese cloisonné enamel sashimi plates by Ando Jubei (1876–1953), dating to the 1930s–1940s, each signed with the Ando mark to the reverse, preserved in their original fitted wooden case with blue velvet lining. The set consists of six small trays and one larger serving tray, all decorated with bold stylized leaf motifs in red, gold, yellow, and grey enamels outlined in fine silver wire against a luminous white ground. The restrained palette and modernist curves of the designs reflect the evolution of Ando’s workshop during the early Shōwa period, when traditional cloisonné techniques were adapted to suit Art Deco and modern aesthetics. The combination of organic form and rhythmic linear decoration creates a sense of both elegance and dynamism. Each piece bears the Ando workshop mark to the underside, confirming their authenticity and origin from Japan’s most prestigious cloisonné firm. The trays fit neatly into the original three-drawer wooden case, lined with deep blue velvet compartments, designed for both storage and presentation. Ando Jubei was the most celebrated cloisonné master of the early twentieth century, appointed purveyor to the Imperial Household and widely recognized at international expositions. By the 1930s, his workshop was producing modern, export-oriented luxury items such as this set, bridging Japanese craftsmanship with contemporary global taste. Sets of cloisonné dishes...
