Eye and Camera, Red, Blue and Yellow
By John Piper
Located in London, GB
A striking piece by Piper also presented in the Tate collection. This print is one of an extensive series titled ‘Eye and Camera’, the first of which were made in 1967. For these prints, which are distinctly different from his topographical work, Piper uses photographic images fragmented and collaged, and juxtaposed with drawing. This is a signed original screenprint from the Kelpra/Tate Gallery portfolio of seven prints published in 1980 in an edition of 150, to celebrate the Kelpra Studio Exhibition at the Tate Gallery. The other artists were Patrick Caulfield, Gordon House, R.B. Kitaj, Victor Pasmore, John Piper, Joe Tilson and Gerd Winner...

Pool boy – Fluro by Gavin Dobson [2021] Limited Edition CMYK screen-print Signed by artist Edition number 40 Image size: H:50 cm x W:35 cm Complete Size of Unframed Work: H:50 cm x W:35 cm x D:0.1cm Sold unframed Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look 5 layer CYMK screen-print. Fourth in the popular Pool boy series. Celebrating summer, positivity and the male form. Pool boy fluro is a CMYK screen print with a neon orange layer to create a bold pop art finish. Gavin Dobson's artworks are available to buy online with Wychwood art and in our art gallery. ARTIST PROFILE: Originally from the North East of England, Gavin graduated in Fine art in 2000, and has been building his portfolio as an artist specialising in painting and screen printing - often combining the two, which helps communicate his chosen narrative. Gavin uses both vivid colours and expressive strokes to create engaging and lively pieces - his recent painting series ‘Landscapes of the Mind’ used the fluidity and movement of the paint to convey how an environment can effect ones state of thinking. Alongside his painting, Gavin is an established screen-printer exhibiting at many galleries across the U.K. and with new clients in New York his international profile is starting to expand. A regular at the Affordable Arts Fair, Gavin was one of 20 artists chosen to work alongside Film Four for an exhibition at Somerset House. His screen-prints often depict colourful, nostalgic images. Iconic designs which are humorous ornamentation and invite an opening for conversation. Gavin takes an original painting and creates many separate layers of half tones to screen-print by hand the final piece. Using this method he captures many textures and depths of colour within a piece of work. He recently designed and created a piece of work for the charity Help Refugee's 'Choose Love' campaign in conjunction with Printclub and the celebrated designer Katharine Hamnett, highlighting the current plight of refugees. Gavin's ongoing dedication has led to various interviews surrounding his work and being featured in The Times by the art critic, Nancy Durrant, as part of her great art gift guide...

Dear One Threads A Cocoon - Unique Hand-coloured Print in Walnut frame
Located in London, GB
Hand-coloured portrait of a human larvae bursting out of their cocoon, immobilised in marble. Representative of a safe and isolating space, the cocoon is both a cage and a shelter. This tale is a study of transformation, of breaking apart and coming back together as the larvae emerges from the silken threads. Taken from The Sialia Marbles, a series of portraits containing ephemeral human sculptures taken between 2016-19. Together these works act as tales contained in a fictional sculpture hall, in direct reaction to Andre Malraux’s 1947 Le Musee Imaginaire (Museum Without Walls). During the beginning of the 'Museum Age' in the 18th century , writer Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe discussed mythical sculpture...

Omphalopagus monster, an orphan from Saint Wanderer's Hospital, tinted print
Located in London, GB
© Katie Eleanor, VIII. "Omphalopagus monster, an orphan" Series: Saint Wanderer's Hospital, 2015 Archival Pigment Print of the hand Coloured Photograph on cotton fine art paper, custom framed 7 1/2 × 5 7/10 in 19 × 14.5 cm (unframed print) 35 x 30.5 cm (Framed : Museum mount-board, antireflective art glass in hardwood custom frame) Edition of 15 Framed or Unframed option available - please enquire 'Saint Wanderer’s Hospital' series depicts a fictional tale birthed from the artist’s inherent need to find splendour in the idea of sickness. Rooted first from her own words, Katie used the idea of illustrating as a form of personal art therapy by immersing herself in the realm of the otherworldly characters. Every aspect of each scene was created by Katie alone, from building and designing the sets to printing and hand-colouring the final images. In this act, over the year long course of the projects creation, the artist managed to make certain turmoil in her personal life bearable. In the world of the hospital, the artist adapts the role of medical photographer – creating accurate portraits of each character’s condition as a record for the hospitals future use. The final series comprises of 8 ‘specimen...

The Dance. A Lithograph by Paul Delvaux. 1969
By Paul Delvaux
Located in Llanbrynmair, GB
’The Dance’ By Paul Delvaux Medium - Lithograph Edition - 8/75 Signed - Yes Size - 360mm x 460mm Date - 1969 Condition - Excellent. 10 out of 10. Colour of print may not be accurate when viewed on a monitor. Paul Delvaux was a Belgian painter noted for his dream-like scenes of women, classical architecture, trains and train stations, and skeletons, often in combination. He is often considered a surrealist, although he only briefly identified with the Surrealist movement. He was influenced by the works of Giorgio de Chirico and René Magritte, but developed his own fantastical subjects and hyper-realistic styling, combining the detailed classical beauty of academic painting with the bizarre juxtapositions of surrealism. Throughout his long career, Delvaux explored "Nude and skeleton, the clothed and the unclothed, male and female, desire and horror, eroticism and death – Delvaux's major anxieties in fact, and the greater themes of his later work. Delvaux was born on 23 September 1897 in Antheit (now part of Wanze) in the Belgian province of Liège. His parents lived in Brussels, but his mother went to her own mother's home to have her first child. The birthplace house would later be destroyed by fire, in 1940. The father was Jean Delvaux, a prosperous barrister at the Court of Appeal Brussels. The mother was the musician Laure Jamotte, who became a strong, dominant presence in his life, directing, controlling, and repressing his childhood and adolescent desires. His artwork was to be greatly influenced by these readings, starting with his earliest drawings showing mythological scenes. His music lessons were conducted in the school's museum room, where a human skeleton in a glass cabinet was always present. From 1910 to 1916, he studied Classics at the Atheneum of Saint-Gilles, where he was a middling or average student. His mother advised him to paint from nature, and in 1919 he produced his first watercolors, some scenic vistas. On a family vacation in Zeebrugge in 1919, he met by chance the painter Franz Courtens...
