Elegant French Iron Fire Screen, New, Handmade, 22" to 35" Wide, 22.4" Tall
Located in Soest, NL
Replica of an antique original. Produced exactly as it used to be made ??and they are thus difficult to distinguish from an old original.
Important advantage of this type of fire screen is that, while elegant, you don't really notice it, you just enjoy the fire. It is of a simple yet elegant simplicity. It is beautiful, rustic and classic. It quietly enhances the fireplace's charm. It is present without taking the attention away from the fire and the other fireplace accessories. The black color of this new handmade screen supports this effect.
The holes in the mesh are small enough to protect against the sparks, but large enough to limit the heat radiation of the fireplace as little as possible.
The fireplace screen fits in both a classic and a modern interior.
center panel: 50 cm (19.7") wide, Side panels: each 20 cm (7.9") wide.
The functional width is 6 cm (2.4") less for the firescreen to stand by itself, or a functional width of 57 cm (23") up to 89 cm (35"). At a width of 57 cm (23") the screen is 22 cm (8.7") deep and at 89 cm (35") wide it is 13 cm (5.1") deep.
Color: black (matt).
This fireplace screen is handmade and can therefore show imperfections (paint, finish, etc.) that do not occur in industrial production. We cannot provide any guarantees on these imperfections.
We can deliver this type of fireplace screen in different sizes. The number of panels can vary from 2 to 6. It is also available in several heights. It cannot be customized, but due to the possible variations it is suitable for most fireplaces. Contrary to popular belief, it is often not necessary for the fireplace screen to cover the entire height of the inside of the fireplace. A height of 50 cm (19.7") is usually sufficient for a fire screen if a quiet fire is lit with dry, suitable wood.
We have a unique and specialized collection of antique and used fireplace accessories...

W A S Benson & Heywood Sumner. A rare Arts & Crafts brass & copper fire fender.
By Was Benson
Located in London, GB
William Arthur Smith Benson and Heywood Sumner. A rare and probably unique Arts & Crafts brass and copper fireplace fender surmounted with six finials and six leaf-shaped feet. The main body with alternating brass and copper discs, each with embossed floral decoration. The floral decoration to the discs is probably the design of Heywood Sumner who collaborated with Benson on some of his lighting designs particularly a three branch brass and copper wall candle sconce, also with embossed floral decoration.
This particular model with floral embossed details to the discs is probably the rarest and hardest one to find. Even after extensive research, I cannot find another one that has ever come onto the market before. I have found two almost identical Benson fenders...
