Swedish ceramic artist and designer, Wilhelm Kåge (1889-1960) was primarily active in the late-1920s through the 1950s and is best known for his contribution to functionalist style, as well his work as the artistic leader of the Gustavsberg porcelain factory. Algot Wilhelm Kåge (originally Nilsson) was born in 1889 in Stockholm. Kåge studied decorative painting at the Technical School, later known as the School of Art Konstfack, in Stockholm (never graduating), and subsequently at the Valand Academy in Gothenburg, where he studied under Scandinavian painters...

A fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver sugar caster, an addition to our silver teaware collection. This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver sugar caster has a baluster form onto a circular domed spreading foot. The upper and lower portions of this piece are embellished with embossed and chased bead and scroll decoration accenting concave bordered, fluted decoration all in a spiral design. The sugar caster retains the original hallmarked screw fit cover, embellished with pierced decoration incorporating chased and embossed bead and scroll decoration, the screw fit attachment indicates the fine quality of this piece. The cover is further ornamented with a gadroon decorated border to the rim and is surmounted by a fine and impressive scroll decorated shaped baluster style finial.
