Narcissus at the Spring

The artwork "Narcissus at the Spring" for the Royal House of Medici is an ironic interpretation of the eponymous painting by the Danish artist Jan Roos. The interpretation became a manifesto of the modern love paradigm - love of self through the prism of others, and a reflection of the hero of our time: a hero with an intricate inner design, open to the world but also subject to narcissism and self-love - not through the reflection in the water as in the Roos's painting, but through the cold blue of the phone screen. But unlike Roos's character, the modern hero does not look down admiring his image. His gaze is directed higher, toward something beyond himself, toward love not for one human, but for all of humanity. The theme of the artwork came as a result of a collaboration with the Royal House of Medici - as a platform aimed at reviving Renaissance aesthetics and continuing the philosophy espoused by Medici themselves several centuries ago.
