Abernathy House

This project restores and modestly modifies one of William Cody's best houses in Palm Springs, built in 1962. The project began by analyzing the architect's original intentions, through understanding the grids and systems that generated the plan and section of the house and its relationship to the landscape. Once the original rules were understood, modification and restoration to the 4,800 square foot house, including new windows, new pool and gardens, interior room refinements and restoration of previous modifications, could develop according to those principles, while still adapting to the client's current needs.
