Condo EM in Mexico City

Apartment by Mueblería Standard in Mexico City, MX

What do you do when you have a young couple as clients and she wants a Baroque Palace but he wants a stark minimal place? The problem is even worse when she is your daughter and he is your son in law!

The solution was to compromise on a project that is contemporary yet with ornamental elements.

To achieve this, we used materials such as bronze, quartz, woods, cement panels and very luxurious metallic wallpaper.

We started with a blank canvas and designed the layout of the apartment as well as all the architectural and interior design work.

One of the main decisions was to use European walnut floor throughout the apartment (he originally wanted gray marble floors and she wanted Carrara marble). This appealed to both of them. Then we settled on the quartz wall and the bronze stripes. The cement panels came later to give it a more contemporary look.

We left the whole social area open since they entertain very often, but it can be intimate as well. This fits their lifestyle very well.

Most of the work was custom, like the wall with bronze inserts that conceals the doors and become the buffet, the big wall unit on the living room, the dinning room table (since we could not get such a large table on the market), the dining room chandelier, etc.

There is a mix of textures in fabrics. We used velvet, wool, linen and leather. This creates a very warm atmosphere.
