The Surf Club Restaurant by Thomas Keller

Restaurant by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio in Miami, FL

The Surf Club Restaurant by Thomas Keller is the latest restaurant from West Coast Chef, Thomas Keller, opened in Miami in fall 2018 with interiors by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. Exuding an elegant and luxurious aesthetic, the restaurant has been designed with the spirit of Miami in mind. Imaginatively brought to life through the implementation of art-deco inspired chandeliers, an oversized hand-painted mural and verdant planting native to Miami, the restaurant revives the hotel’s reputation as iconic members’ club to the prominent and illustrious names of the golden era. The semi-open nature of the relationship between the bar and restaurant ensures the flow of the space is uninterrupted and encourages an atmosphere that is animated yet intimate, while leather banquette seating further helps the space to strike a balance between informality and luxury. An outdoor terrace area with bold planting and covered seating provides a nostalgic take on the grand parties thrown by members’ back in the day, creating a relaxed yet elegant location for those dining outside. American artist Donald Robertson has been commissioned to create artwork especially for the restaurant whilst British mural artist Gary Myatt has designed and hand-painted an expansive mural that spans the length of the restaurant, depicting scenes that echo the local landscape and offer a distilled vision of the Surf Club’s 1930s heyday.
