Magnificent Pair of Amphora Art Nouveau "Lily of the Valley" Figural Vases, 1905
By Amphora
Located in Cathedral City, CA
Proud to offer this matching PAIR of early 20th Century Austria Imperial Amphora “Lily-of-the-Valley” maiden vases. These vases were designed by Eduard Stellmacher and manufactured by Riessner & Kessel Amphora of Turn-Teplitz, Austria, in a very classic Art Nouveau style. They each depict a dimensional nymph figure partially ascending a large Lily of the Valley plant. There are many lily of the valley plants surrounding the figures and a couple of scrolling stems that pass through their long flowing hair. Four main colors are used to decorate the molded vase with gilt highlights, including white, ivory, dark & light beige and gold. There are some impressed marks on the underside bottom, "Imperial Amphora Turn...

Rare Riessner and Kessel Amphora Ceramic Art Nouveau Pottery Basket
Located in Belfast, Northern Ireland
Rare Riessner and Kessel Amphora Ceramic Art Nouveau Pottery Basket
A charming and unusual piece from the well known ceramic factory Amphora of Riessner & Kessel in Turn-Teplitz. Made in the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the area called Bohemia, now referred to as the Czech Republic. In the form of a basket shape decorated with simulated ‘jewels’ of color. It displays a number of stamps and factory marks: Austria, a circular mark with double headed eagle which states Imperial Amphora and an impressed crown. It has two different Slavic townscapes including city walls and magical rooftops on each facade along with numerous star motifs depicted in different enamel colors. The firm’s most important works were made between 1894 and 1904, they were almost all in the Art Nouveau style with plants, animals, mythical creatures and, as in this case, an uncommon and desirable romantic medieval Bohemian landscape.
A very quant and rare collector’s item or unique home accessory. Would go with many of our vintage and antique one-of-a-kind cushions and pillows. A subpart ornament paired...
