The hot names of his youth, such as Willem De Kooning, Mark Rothko, and Larry Rivers, provided him with interest and challenges for years to come, and his awe for them is still evident in his voice to date, many years after drawing away from them. This work is reminiscent of the work of Saul Steinberg and Philip Guston.
