"Natalie's" - Plein Aire Pastoral Landscape in Pastel on Sandpaper Serene plein aire landscape with cows by Clive R. Tyler (American, b. 1958). This composition depicts a farm in Fort Collins, Colorado, with a large white barn at the top of the hill. There are several cows grazing in a bright green pasture. A partially broken fence is directly in front of the viewer - a symbol of the artist's desire to portray the realism of the scene, including imperfections. This piece is executed on sandpaper, a trademark of Tyler's work. Signed "CL Tyler" in the lower left corner Signed, notated, titled, and dated on verso (see photo). Wyeth was born in Wilmington, DE and grew up in Chadd’s Ford, PA, the son of Andrew Wyeth, one of America’s most well known artists, and a grandson of the illustrator Newell Convers Wyeth. Wyeth studied under his aunt, Carolyn Wyeth, and apprenticed three years with his father before going to New York City to launch his own art career. During the 1960s and 70s, his portrait work included a posthumous President John F. Kennedy, Andy Warhol, and President Elect Jimmy Carter. Otto Schubert Pen & Ink Fairy Tale is an original pen & ink sketch 1927 from one of the artist's illustrations for a fairy tale. There is a father and mother fox talking to two younger versions of themselves. They are all dressed in human clothes at the door of their house with smoke coming out of the chimney. Next to the house is a tree with a mountain in the background and another house in the distance. There is gardening equipment here and there. In the foreground we see sketches of a rabbit in different poses with some writing in German below the middle image.The artis'ts pencil signature is bottom right.
