The watercolor was newly reframed in an elegant wood frame with navy blue PU leather wrapping, beige jute matte, and acrylic glass protection.

Roger Lersy is a French painter, lithographer, and composer, born in Paris on April 2, 1920, and died in Orsay on June 22, 2004.
He belongs to the School of Paris and the Young Painting movement.
Roger Lersy was born in the 18th arrondissement of Paris on April 2, 1920. Studying the piano from his earliest childhood, likewise beginning to draw on his father's lap, Roger Lersy, son of a decorator, enters after his schooling and for three years at the École supérieure des arts appliqués Duperré in Paris. He lives at 19 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine and begins to paint. He also worked as a decorator and pursued higher musical studies, in parallel with Noël Gallon, between 1950 and 1954. After 1954, the year when galleries, both in Paris and abroad, began to exhibit him regularly, he practiced painting (canvases, watercolors, tapestry cartoons) and music.
From 1961 to 1968, Lersy lived in the United States. In 1970, he went on to solo exhibitions in Paris, London, Geneva, Houston, Los Angeles, and New York.
Roger Lersy was initiated into the first degree of Freemasonry in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in 1979 at the Loge du Grand Val in the Paris region and later at the Grande Loge de France.
Leading two careers at the same time, Roger Lersy has left paintings that present themselves as so many rhythms and tremors.

Edith Schloss is best known for knowing "everyone who counted in Manhattan's legendary postwar art scene." From the moment she was first introduced to Willem de Kooning by her friend Fairfield Porter, she became an integral member of the Chelsea-New York art scene, which flourished around the New York School and included photographer, painter, and filmmaker Rudy Burckhardt (whom she married in 1946) and the Jane Street Group around the artist Nell Blaine. It was an era closely charted in her 2021 posthumous memoir, The Loft Generation: From the de Koonings to Twombly; Portraits and Sketches, 1942–2011.
Born in Offenbach, Germany, Schloss studied languages and art as a young student. In Florence she learned about the Renaissance and in Frankfurt she saw her first Van Gogh. In London, while working as an au pair, she learned English and was inspired by the great Greek sculptures at the British Museum, which led her to dream of becoming an archeologist.

Claire Weist (American, 1930-2014) was an artist known primarily for her watercolor compositions. She won several awards throughout her career, including the jury award for graphics from the Illinois Watercolor Society. Weist was originally from the Boston area and studied at the Massachusetts College of Art and then Harvard. After spending time teaching art and as an illustrator, Weist moved to Crete, Illinois and opened her own studio, where she spent the remainder of her professional career.

Born in Cayucos, California, Albert De Rome (American, 1885-1959) became a California landscape painter, especially of natural landscapes formations, seascapes and marine scenes near Carmel and Monterey. Usually his palette was bright in both oil and watercolor, but he did the occasional nocturne. Scholars have compared his painting style and subjects to those of Thomas Hill and Albert Bierstadt. However, Albert De Rome never affiliated with any formal group of painters, although he had many close friends including Percy Gray, Gunnar Widforss and Will Sparks.
As a young man, Thomas De Rome worked at the Congress Spring Hotel in Saratoga, and in San Francisco at the Globe Foundry, owned by an uncle. He studied art under Arthur Mathews, John Stanton and Lorenzo Latimer...

Emilio Sanchez (1921-1999) created [untitled] “STREET SCENE WITH FRUIT VENDOR” in circa 1950. This unsigned watercolor and came to us directly from the Sanchez estate. It is stamped on the verso "Estate of Emilio Sanchez." This piece is in good to very good condition and painted to the paper's edge. The paper size is 14.88 x 15.25 inches (37.6 x 38.6 cm).
