Sarah Alexander's walnut ink and watercolor illustrative botanical drawing in sepia tones shows a grassy form whimsically tossing an orange box full of spiky burrs or seedpods. The orange box symbolizes all of life's burdens and responsibilities. Alexander uses humor and playful drawings to confront life's challenges. The drawing is signed on the lower right hand corner. The border of the drawing gives a nod to the style of artists of the art Deco period.
Sarah Alexander is a contemporary mixed media artist with an emphasis on watercolor and drawing using unconventional surfaces and techniques. Her work is in private collections and has been shown extensively throughout New England, and abroad. Her work has been published by North Light Books. Alexander is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
