Milan, April 14th 1934. In Italian. One page, single-sided, on letterhead paper "Colonna - Rivista mensile - Milano" .

This is a kind letter of request: the Italian intellectual dmandes to the Countess and patron of the arts an economic help for his monthly review Colonna. Periodico di civiltà italiana he directed. Counting only 5 issues, the periodical had the common intentions of the Countess and of Savini : to actively contribute to the revival of Italian culture.
Thanks to this autograph we could understand the significant role of Alberto Savinio and the Countess played in the production and promotion of Italian culture during the early thirties.
Alberto Savinio, pseudonym of Andrea Francesco Alberto de Chirico (Athens, 1891 - Rome, 1952)
The Italian writer, painter, playwright and composer, Alberto Savinio, as well as brother of the famous painter Giorgio de Chirico, chose his stage name in 1914 when he published Les chants de la mi-mort in the magazine Les Soirées de Paris. He returned permanently to Italy in 1933, thus he collaborated with the newspaper "La Stampa" with a column, "Guard tower" (1934-1940). From 1934 he moved to Rome. In 1938, André Breton included him (the only Italian) in the Anthologie de l'humour noir. In the capital he collaborated at the Leo Longanesi's weekly Omnibus, for which he wrote in 1939 a piece of satire on Leopardi's gluttony (Leopardi's sorbet) which cost him the antipathies of the fascist regime.
Countess Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt (Rome, 1885 - Marlia, 1971)
Best-known as "Mimì" Pecci-Blunt , the Italian noblewoman was an art collector, patron and nephew of Pope Leo XIII. Extremely volcanic, she was very active in the cultural field, opening numerous lounges, galleries and theaters. In 1919 she married Cecil Blumenthal, later changed to Blunt, a wealthy Jewish banker from New York, heir to an important collection of nineteenth-century French painting. His Parisian and Roman salons was frequented by artists and intellectuals of the caliber of Salvador Dalì, Paul Valery, Poulenc, Paul Claudel, and Aldo Palazzeschi!

Alberto Savinio was an Italian artist, writer, painter, musician, journalist, essayist, playwright and a set designer. He was born on August 25, 1891, in Athens. He was well-known as the younger brother of the famous painter Giorgio de Chirico. His works were more focused on philosophical and psychological features and are inspired by them, as he was also interested in the philosophy of art. According to the art historian Jean Clair, the artworks of Savinio and Giorgio de Chirico were the base of both the surrealist movement and magic realism. He died on May 5, 1952, in Rome.

Important Teddy Roosevelt Letter from White House June 1907
By Theodore Roosevelt
Located in Dallas, TX
Presenting A Very Important Teddy Roosevelt Letter from White House June 1907.
On ‘The White House’ letterhead. Typed and personally signed and amended by President Theodore Roosevelt.
With it’s original White House envelope, stamp and postage marks.
Dated June 14th 1907.
What makes this letter so important is the author, the office and the content.
It refers to the beliefs and opinions of the then President and First Lady (Edith) towards the women’s sufferage and empowerment movement that was the ‘hot topic’ of the time.
It is addressed to Eliza Calvert Obenchain who was a well known author at the end of the 19th Century and Early 20th Century. In 1905, Teddy referred to her book “Aunt Jane of Kentucky’ in a speech and recommended that every man in America should read it to understand ‘the plight of their womenfolk’. He regularly corresponded with her and we have a number of those letters in our collection. It appears that both he and Edith became big fans of Mrs Obenchain who was also heavily involved in the Suffragist movement.
The letters also provide a fascinating and historic record of Roosevelt’s personal beliefs and feelings on female empowerment.
The Letter Reads:
The White House
Washington
Oyster Bay, N.Y.,
June 14, 1907
Personal
“Dear Mrs. Obenchain:
I gladly accept the autographed copy of “Aunt Jane” which you have been so kind to send me. But Aunt Jane is so good and so wise that she must not (amount “race (illegible)) fall into the terrible mistake of the self-indulgent, selfish, shortsighted women, cold in heart and in temper, who shirk the duties of mother-hood and then try to cover up to themselves and to others their cowardice or self-indulgence by making believe they are actuated by wise or lofty motives. *
With great regard, believe me,
Sincerely yours,
Theodore Roosevelt
*And she must not give aid and comfort to unsexed or sexless creatures by a jest which they may take for earnest !
Mrs. Eliza Calvert Obenchain,
Bowling Green, Kentucky.“
The envelope is From: The White House.
Addressed to: Mrs. Eliza Calvert Obenchain, Bowling Green, Kentucky and marked ‘Personal’.
It is stamped on the front as posted from Oyster Bay, New York Post Office on June 16 1907.
It has a red 2 Cent...
