About the Item

La Coda di Paglia is an original modern rare book illustrated by Mino Maccari (Siena, 1898 – Rome, 1989) and written by Alfonso Gatto in 1949. Original First Edition. Published by Sera Editrice, Milan. 5000 unnumbered copies. Format: in 8°. The dimensions and the weight are indicative. The book includes 238 pages with several full page reproductions of drawings. Mint conditions. Mino Maccari (Siena, 1898 - Rome, 1989). He was an Italian writer, painter, engraver and journalist, winner of the Feltrinelli Prize for Painting in 1963. For his pictorial work rich in evident chromatic accentuations and quick brushstrokes, the violent drawing combined with the living stroke of the graphic sign of his engravings, is recognized by the critics as a complete artist. After World War II he still continues to acquire recognition, thanks to a prolific creative work, and to present personal exhibitions. In 1962 he was also entrusted with the presidency of the Accademia di San Luca in Rome and managed to obtain a personal exhibition at Gallery 63 in New York. His production of drawings, watercolors, tempera, etc. is exhausted, sometimes in collaboration with prestigious publishing houses.
