It does not require framing. Convenient local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and International shipping are available. His parents relocated their family from Oaxaca, Mexico in search of opportunities in the United States. Brown uses his interest in fashion as well as his knowledge of color, design, and culture as inspiration for his paintings. The loss of friends to violence and incarceration, combined with the loss of a family member to gang violence pushed Brown to use art as a source of therapy and to project a positive inspiring image for his community. Brown’s art coalesces youth culture, art history, fashion, and American consumerism and melds them all to create his unique style. Instantly relatable and recognizable, his cathartic paintings represent contemporary issues as well as a demographic that is traditionally underrepresented in fine art. His works speak to young Americans and inspire a whole new generation of art collectors and admirers. Since 2016, Daniel Brown...

"Summer Skull" - Original Gary John Pop Painting on Newspaper
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Los Angeles street artist Gary John exploded onto the international art scene first during Art Basel Miami in 2013. John’s playfully bold work quickly gained attention and he was named one of 20 standout artists at the 2014 NY Affordable Art Fair. His works have been exhibited at Artspace Warehouse since 2013. His contemporary artworks continue to be exhibited at major international art fairs in the United States, Asia and Europe, including Los Angeles, New York, London, Singapore and Hong Kong. Celebrities and major art collectors worldwide have acquired his timeless artworks, which have seen a significant increase in value. John applied acrylic paint onto newspaper to create this one-of-a-kind artwork measuring 14 inches high by 11 inches wide. The artwork is signed and dated by Gary John in black along the lower left corner using the first two letters of his first and last names: "GA JO". This artwork is not framed and requires framing for proper display. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Convenient local Los Angeles shipping. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping also available. Gary John has been a street artist since 1985. Originally from Seattle, Washington, he moved to Venice Beach, Los Angeles in 2003 and began selling on the Venice boardwalk. After almost 10 years on the boardwalk and experiencing “a bout with homelessness,” he was discovered and his artistic career took off with great success. He references this success in every artwork he makes. Along the left side of the artwork he paints a series of circles joined together by an arrow pointing up. Each circle represents a stepping stone on the path of success that keeps growing to greater heights. On the right side he depicts a line of houses, expressing the joy he finds in the stability of a home. Outsider Ryan Humphrey Street Art Collage, Large Painting Jackson Pollock Photo
By Ryan Humphrey
Located in Surfside, FL
Where the Road Crashes into the Sea, 2008 Aluminum, rivets, glass, acrylic paint, fabric Dimensions: 55 1/2 x 55" Mixed Media Sculptural Wall Hanging Art. This painting was made after visiting the location of the fatal Jackson Pollock car crash and includes a silkscreen photograph of the scene. The letters are formed from cut up old license plates. Ryan Humphrey (born 1971) is an American artist who currently lives and works in New York City. Education: BFA, Ohio University, MFA, Hunter College, New York 1999; Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Maine, 2001; Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program, NY, 2005-2006 Ryan Humphrey grew up in a small town in Ohio building things in his yard, riding BMX bikes and skateboarding. He then moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the next three years to work at The Carnegie Museum of Art and obtain a commercial art degree where he developed an interest in contemporary fine art. This inspired him (along with a scholarship) to attend Ohio University where he earned his BFA in Sculpture. After moving to New York City he received his MFA from Hunter College, paying his way through school by working at The Dia Center for the Arts. After attending The Skowhegan summer residency program in Maine he worked for The Andy Warhol Foundation and participated in the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program. He has exhibited extensively. He currently lives and works in New York City. His work has been featured in the traveling exhibition Will Boys Be Boys? Questioning Adolescent Masculinity in Contemporary Art :Photograph, video, painting and sculpture curated by Shamim Momin of the Whitney Museum of American Art. (it included Slater Bradley, Larry Clark, Lilah Freedland, Tim Gardner, Luis Gispert, Anthony Goicolea, Janine Gordon, Ryan Humphrey, Nikki S. Lee, Julia Loktev, Maria Marshall, Ryan McGinness, Chloe Piene, Jeff Reed, Tom Sachs, Dean Sameshima, Collier Schorr, Type A (Adam Ames and Andrew Bordwin Humphrey's most recent solo exhibition, All of Nothing, was at DCKT Contemporary. Humphrey was also a contestant in Season I of Top Design, Bravo's reality show. Recently, Humphrey was included in the Queens International 4 exhibition at the Queens Museum of Art. His large-scale installation, titled Fast Forward (2009), included BMX ramps adjacent to a wall-to-ceiling assemblage tapestry, collection of trophies and customized BMX bikes, and he continued this theme in his installation Look for the dream that keeps coming back (2010) at Kunsthalle Galapagos. Humphrey expresses his growing up in BMX and skateboard culture through his art. The assemblage also included several paintings, created by the artist for the exhibition, and several sculptures of BMX bike wheels. The paintings were small drips that recall the works of Jackson Pollock, and the BMX sculptures are similar to Marcel Duchamp's Bicycle Wheel. The installation included an opening night performance by legendary BMX pro Dizz Hicks and Ryan Humphrey on the ramps. An edition of 20 silkscreen posters was made by the artist, and signed by himself and Dizz Hicks, to commemorate the event. He was included in the show 5 X 5 at the Whitney Museum of American Art at Philip Morris. Reed Anderson, Rina Banerjee, Susan Graham, Ryan Humphrey and Larry Krone -- each created a work inspired by one (post-1985) from the museum's own collection. Christopher Wool, Donald Lipski...

Love and Life
By Domingo Zapata
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Domingo Zapata Born: Palma de Mallorca, Spain (1974) Lives and works: New York Awards: ‘Most Influential Artist of the Year’, Latino Heritage Celebration (2019) Exhibitions: Grand Hyatt Tokyo (2021), New York Fashion Week (2020), Art Basel Miami (2019) Domingo grew up in Palma de Mallorca in Spain, where his mother was a painter and his father painted cars. Surrounded by “paint and fumes”, he explored his heritage and learnt about artists like Diego Velázquez, Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. His art studies in London and subsequent political science degree took him to Wall Street, New York, in 1999, before he embarked on a career in the music industry and wrote lyrics for Michael Jackson. He was hugely influenced by pop culture and the aesthetics of Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Created in oil and acrylic, Domingo’s works incorporate mixed media, collage and graffiti. His poetic imagination is visualised through layers of text and visual cues including symbols and iconic brands and figures. He says his work is a “conversation of colours”, with its distinctive style identified by the raw strokes of paint. Each piece is designed to have a positive influence on the viewer. Domingo’s art is collected by celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom...

Characterized by bright block letters and cartoonish depictions of human figures, the artist’s paintings and tattoos are influenced by comic books and television shows. “Graffiti lost its edge in the mid-1980s, and that’s why I needed to find other mediums like tattooing and clothing to put my name to,” he explained. Born Richard Mirando in 1961 in the Bronx, NY, he first began spray painting in 1973, alongside his graffiti crew United Artists. By the early 1980s, Seen had transitioned to work on canvas and began participating in shows alongside Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. His works speak to young Americans and inspire a whole new generation of art collectors and admirers. Since 2016, Daniel Brown...

Painting is an art form that has spanned innumerable cultures, with artists using the medium to tell stories, explore and communicate ideas and express themselves. To bring abstract, landscape and still-life paintings into your home is to celebrate and share in the long tradition of this discipline.

When we look at paintings, particularly those that originated in the past, we learn about history, other cultures and countries of the world. Like every other work of art, paintings — whether they are contemporary creations or works that were made during the 19th century — can often help us clearly see and understand the world around us in a meaningful and interesting way.

Cave walls were the canvases for what were arguably the world’s first landscape paintings, which depict natural scenery through art. Portrait paintings and drawings, which, along with sculpture, were how someone’s appearance was recorded prior to the advent of photography, are at least as old as Ancient Egypt. In the Netherlands, landscapes were a major theme for painters as early as the 1500s. Later, artists in Greece, Rome and elsewhere created vast wall paintings to decorate stately homes, churches and tombs. Today, creating a wall of art is a wonderful way to enhance your space, showcase beautiful pieces and tie an interior design together.

No matter your preference, whether you favor Post-Impressionist paintings, animal paintings, Surrealism, Pop art or another movement or specific period, arranging art on a blank wall allows you to evoke emotions in a room while also showing off your tastes and interests. A symmetrical wall arrangement may comprise a grid of four to six pieces or, for an odd number of works, a horizontal row. Asymmetrical arrangements, which may be small clusters of art or large, salon-style gallery walls, have a more collected and eclectic feel. Download the 1stDibs app, which includes a handy “View on Wall” feature that allows you to see how a particular artwork will look on a particular wall, and read about how to arrange wall art. And if you’re searching for the perfect palette for your interior design project, what better place to turn than to the art world’s masters of color?

On 1stDibs, you’ll find an expansive collection of paintings and other fine art for your home or office. Browse abstract paintings, portrait paintings, paintings by popular artists and more today.
