Many rich layers of acrylic and acrylic gel create a depth in this painting. The colors and light shift as the viewer moves around the painting. Rich reds, golds, bold gestural marks intimate text.
Multidisciplinary artist Alice Teichert is known for bold colurs and layered transparencies interspersed with script like line drawings. Teichert studied music, philosophy, visual poetry, visual arts and printmaking in Belgium and France. She titles this work as Lumiere which translates to 'Light'.
"The notation of language has always held more fascination for me than the verbal or auditory expression of it. Reading and absorbing the images of many manuscripts, sheets of music or pages of scripted writing throughout my life, has always led me to that curious space between perception and interpretation.
The visual vocabulary in my paintings develops slowly as a language interacting with glyph-like inscriptions and many layers of vibrant colours and pigmented glazes. Transparency and translucency extend the physical environment further allowing me to move deeply into a playful dance of light and textural exchanges. Over the course of creating these paintings, a visual notation reveals its own form of resonance like ripples of a language dancing in space, water and time." - Alice Teichert

Alice Teichert
(b.1959, Paris, FR) Multidisciplinary artist Alice Teichert is known for her use of bold colours and layered transparencies interspersed with script like line drawings. Teichert studied music, philosophy and visual arts in Belgium and France. Since 1989, she has built an international career with over 30 solo exhibitions in Germany, France, NY, Canada, Switzerland and Australia. Teichert’s paintings are held in many private, corporate and public collections including the MacLaren Art Centre, Global Affairs Canada, and the Musée de la Ville de Valence, France. An English-German edition of a monograph by Dagmar Täube, titled In)Formation - On the Philosophy and Art of Alice Teichert has recently been published by Hirmer Publishers, Münich, Germany
