About the Item

This numerical abstract painting places emphasis on simplified composition. The loose pencil scribble is spontaneous and carefree, conveying energy and movement. It brings a sense of raw creativity and unrestrained expression to the piece. A blend of pencil and layers of acrylic paint make up this minimal yet engaging work. // Andrea Stajan-Ferkul is a Canadian artist whose work conveys a sense of experimentation through the use of paint, fabric collage and abstract mark-making. While not exclusive to fashion, dresses have been a compositional focus throughout her oeuvre. With an emphasis on timelessness, her series of dress paintings shift between realistic representation and interpretive impressions. In contrast, her series of abstract works embrace minimalism, considerate to a restrained palette and composition. Stajan-Ferkul began her career in fashion advertising before shifting her focus to fine art in 2000. Her work has been exhibited widely through galleries and art fairs, and hangs in private and public collections across Canada, US and Europe. A graduate of Sheridan College of Art and Design, Stajan-Ferkul's paintings can be found in numerous public and private collections, her work has been published in magazines and book covers, and prints are distributed internationally. In 2009, Stajan-Ferkul was invited to exhibit her work in Ottawa’s Rideau Hall, hosted by (then) Governor General of Canada, Michaëlle Jean.

30x22 in. Re- Enter - Ink, Acrylic, Graphite on paper, unframed
By Alexis Portilla
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This is a beautiful piece by Alexis Portilla, unframed. Re-Enter 30x22 in. Ink, Acrylic, Graphite on paper Unframed Framing available The artist Alexis Portilla obtained his Masters of Fine Arts at Columbia University in 1990. His bold linear lines, use of symbols, pictographs and strong colors create atmospheric abstracts. “Using simple forms and creating swathes of rich texture, Alexis Portilla builds atmospheric abstract paintings that convey a sense of time having passed. Brushy areas of color suggest the indeterminacy of memory, while bold linear forms speak for the present.” - Meredith Mendelsohn, Art News magazine review. Influenced by the emotion of artistic expression in music, poetry and literature, the artist finds bold expression in color, lines and shapes that resemble pictographs, and texture. The artist has shown in group and solo exhibitions nationally for more than 20 years. His works have been commissioned by major corporations, universities and for private collections.
