About the Item

Andrei Petrov's "Exit Strategy" is a 36 x 48-inch abstract landscape painting on canvas. The main colors are blue. The reference to a natural landscape is clearly there. Petrov works by applying layers of paint and then scraping off some parts to reveal the shades underneath. The play of transparencies, brushstrokes and lights brings to life an emotional composition where the strong chiaroscuro gives a theatrical accent. The different shades of blue viewed through a white mist, remind us of a waterfall landscape, with the water cascading in front of us. The few touches of red colors breaking through the white mist create an unexpected movement in the relaxing landscape. Andrei Petrov is an American Artist of Russian origins. He lives and works in New York. He states "In my approach, two roads are taken: a natural, Hudson River School path of light and drama-filled grandeur that encounters energetically animated gestures, muscular surfaces, and bold strokes familiar in Abstract Expressionism. Beneath numerous glazes and opalescent layers swaths of paint dash about this stage and often emerge from the lower depths of which there are many levels. Freezing the action allows a probing slow-motion breakdown of the components that comprise the canvas. Think of a frozen lake: leaves, twigs, nuts, fish are all suspended in ice at different depths and angles. Piercing the surface, thick islets of paint interrupt a placid color field and create a vast non-linear perspective from the root to the fruit of the gesture. Tension is created by the juxtaposition of animated bursts of paint with the slow contemplative layering found in paintings of the Hudson River School. The invitation to explore this amber-like world is now extended. Sometimes the brush is mightier than the pen."

Vitrales al Alba - Blue and Aqua Abstract Painting, South American Lyrical Art
By Alfredo Aya
Located in New York, NY
This stunning abstract piece captures the essence of dawn with its ethereal blue and aqua tones. The vertical composition and soft transitions of light evoke the effect of stained glass illuminated by morning sunlight, adding a tranquil atmosphere to any space. The delicate blending of shapes and colors creates a sense of harmony and balance, ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, or contemporary interiors that seek to evoke calm and reflection. Inspired by the artist’s belief that “form and movement emerge from color,” this work offers both visual depth and serene movement. Drawing parallels to lyrical abstraction, this painting shares an affinity with South American modernism, while offering a dynamic interplay of light and form that invites contemplation. Its fluid lines and luminous color palette make it versatile for a variety of design styles, adding both elegance and vibrancy to spaces. Aya was born in Paris in 1954 and after studying in Paris and Switzerland he moved to Colombia in his late teens. He lives and works in Bogota'. Abstract painting for living room...
