Aron Hill
Head With Blue Line No 1

2017

About

From the foot of this intimately sized acrylic painting on canvas, a blue line drawing of a head framed in lemon yellow closes in on a dynamically angled line in sea blue. These elements are stamped over swooping and intersecting arced ribbons of flat color -- mauve, yellow, lime green, and turquoise. Here the artist plays with space, flattening it and hinting at foreground or background. The appearance of a small orange triangular shape within the curated arcs balances the composition. Hill works in the late modernist traditions of concept and minimalism emphasizing the viewer's participation in the work. Hill obtained a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Alberta College of Art and Design and his MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2006. He has exhibited across Canada and in Dubai.
