The ever changing natural landscape is the inspiration behind this piece. The palette used and the composition are almost reminiscent of a stained glass design; the way the canvas is divided into obvious sections almost falling in on each other gives a sense of movement and rotation.

This painting expresses the artists interest in prehistoric mark making in the form of a modern abstract landscape. There is the suggestion of a handprint on stone or perhaps marks in the sand made by the moving tide. There is something prehistoric here and yet very contemporary. The simple palette and flat colours do not immediately indicate as to what the piece is about ,but rather offer the viewer a space to reflect on it for themselves. The landscape format of foreground,middle,horizon and background are really the vehicle in which the artist expresses something more timeless.
