About the Item
Taupe Leaves
Oil on canvas.
Contemporary artist Deborah Bigeleisen is celebrated for her exceptional ability to toggle between abstraction and representation creating a new genre of floral painting to embody a modern world.
Bigeleisen has worked as a professional artist since 2002. She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan with a degree in textile design. After retiring from an over 20-year career in fashion where she established and owned a global textile print design studio in New York City, she relocated to West Palm Beach, and began her second career as a fine artist. Principally self-taught she refined her skills through master artist workshops; and was honored to have Gordon Parks as a mentor and good friend. Her paintings are sold through fine art galleries across the United States and grace corporate and private collections world-wide. Her work has been extensively published in international art books; across many digital business and lifestyle platforms including Yahoo News, New York Weekly, and Readers Digest UK; and featured in prominent magazines including Art & Antiques, Florida Design, and Architectural Digest. Her paintings have been recognized with awards and accepted into numerous museum exhibitions including the Boca Raton Museum of Art, The Platt/Bornstein Galleries at American Jewish University in Los Angeles, and the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
When Deborah is not in her studio, she enjoys sharing her knowledge by conducting private tours of international art fairs and museums, lecturing on a variety of atypical art subjects, and teaching painting workshops.

Sebastian Spreng, is a Miami-based artist born in Argentina, who at the early age of 17, had his first solo show at a gallery in Buenos Aires which was sold out at opening night. When he moved to Miami in 1987, the excess of sunshine made him change his approach to painting and his career blossomed. Since then, Spreng has participated in solo and group exhibitions from Boston to Seattle to Munich, Essen to Tokyo. His work is inspired on observations of everyday moments. As a hunter or seeker of color he experiments with colors that vibrate with life. "If I see a photograph or if I watch a movie and I see a color that I like, from that color, I start a new set of paintings," said Sebastian Spreng in an exclusive 2011 WUM interview. "The meaning of my art is a bridge to entice contemplation."
In 2009 his work Daphne was selected for the book “Speak for the Trees” along 70 other artists including David Hockney, Christo, April Gornik, Yoko Ono, Julie Heffernan, Robert Longo, Mark Ryden, the Starn...
