Elfi Schuselka (Austrian, b. 1940), Abstract Composition in Green, Oil on Canvas, mounted on board, stamped "Studio Elfi Schuselka" to verso, unframed. 21.75" H x 23.75" W. Provenance: From the collection of the artist. Note: Schuselka studied photography, art history, and theater at the University of Vienna. She moved to New York in 1964. Her work has been exhibited internationally in the United States, Italy, France, and Japan, as well as at the Cracovia Biennial, Yugoslavia, Ibiza Biennial, Spain, and the Sao Paulo Biennial. Her work is part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Fort Worth, and the International Centre of Graphic Arts, Slovenia. Long a regular exhibitor at the famed 55 Mercer Gallery, Schuselka is well-known in New York art circles together with her husband, Domenick Capobianco (American, b. 1928).

Elfriede “Elfi” Schuselka, a visionary artist, embarked on a multifaceted academic journey at the University of Vienna, studying photography, art history, and theater, before establishing her influential presence in New York City in 1964. Her artistic contributions have resonated globally, with exhibitions across the United States, Italy, France, and Japan, as well as at esteemed international venues such as the Cracovia Biennial in Yugoslavia, the Ibiza Biennial in Spain, and the São Paulo Biennial. Her work is held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, and the International Centre of Graphic Arts in Slovenia. A longstanding and prominent figure at the renowned 55 Mercer Gallery, alongside her husband, artist Domenick Capobianco, Schuselka is a celebrated artist within New York's art circles.
