Ether Sans Oiseaux I & II (Ether without Birds) Elegant sophisticated whites and creams of the clouds on rich blue sky. Diptych French American Frédéric Choisel, has had multiple solo and group exhibitions in New York, Paris, and the San Francisco Bay Area. He is inspired by the cities and countryside of France, New York, and California's Bay Area. Like Gerhard Richter, with a background in hyperrealism and shift into abstraction, Choisel is taking us along with him on a new intellectual journey through his elegant abstractions.
Beautiful, rich, highest quality materials used throughout including European Belgian linen. Artist signed, titled and dated verso. Condition excellent. Wired, ready to hang, framing not required.
Each panel is 39' X 39" - Overall 39" X 80" (with 1 inch space between) The stunning diptych can be hung in many orientations.

Frédéric Choisel
A photographer, draftsman, cinematographer and painter, Frédéric Choisel is a person of many talents. Colors swirl across his canvases as if they’re in motion — his brushstrokes produce unexpected forms and textural heft. And while he’s best known for his abstract paintings, Choisel has created numerous works in a realist style, drawing frequently on the power of nature to produce serene landscapes as well as enveloping depictions of cloudy skies at dusk.
Born in France, Choisel attended Ecole Supérieure d'Etudes Cinématographiques and went on to the University of Paris VII, where he studied painting and other disciplines such as photography (he was shooting with an old Pentax as a child).
Influenced by the Dutch and Spanish Baroque artistic movements, Choisel credits 19th-century French masters Gustave Courbet and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot as inspirations. Photography and film are important to his painting, too. The artist initially worked as a filmmaker, and is still actively taking on projects as a cinematographer in the documentary realm. Choisel’s work behind the camera — any camera — is integral to his other endeavors. A still image he captures as part of a film project might find a new life as a subject at his easel.
Choisel has shown his work in solo and group exhibitions in France, Belgium and throughout the United States. He lives and works out of Paris, but also has a studio in Long Island City, New York, and is represented by Andra Norris Art Gallery in San Francisco.

In this affecting composition, Yektai combines the dynamism of the abstract expressionist style with the soft, meditative qualities of Monet's waterlilies.
Yektai first paints the canvas with loose strokes of rich deep greens. A pinkish red abstract form takes center stage - ang highlights of yellow flank the edges. Then he pours a clear-grade liquid resin onto the painted canvas and lets it harden into a glassy surface. Finally, he uses linear brushstrokes connecting colors into forms, in the typical impressionist style. Yektai varies the volume in which he applies paint, from thin and dry to sopping wet and thick. This process allows for a more three-dimensional experience of the painting. One can see through layers which build-up to create the flurry of brushstrokes. The reflective surface makes space for the viewer to see themselves in the painting, looking back at them. A contemporary notion.
