About the Item
This acrylic painting on canvas and board features many layers of paint. It is predominately white, with some of the earlier layers left exposed. The impasto of the paint builds beautiful layers on top of the canvas supported by the board. In the upper right of the pictorial space exposed are layers of muted red-violet and bright shades of green, lending itself to a semi-complementary color scheme. This painting is signed by the artist in the back and does not need to be framed.
George Simmons is an Upstate New York artist who focuses on printmaking, painting and fine art photography. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin with an MFA in studio art, Simmons exhibits regionally and has been the recipient of photography awards.
