Artist BIO:
Giuliana Lazzerini was born in Tuscany, Italy. She gained a Master of Arts from the Istituto D’Arte Stagio Stagi in Pietrasanta and graduated in painting from the Accademia Di Belle Arti in Carrara. She moved to the UK in 1973 and she now lives and works in Yorkshire. Giuliana became inspired by art during her childhood, when much of her time was spent in her father’s mosaic studio in Italy. “The translucency of mosaic images and the way colours can vibrate against each other always fascinated me.” “After spending many years living in the UK, I now have lots of memories from which to unleash my imagination. As times go by my urgency to paint has become more and more pressing and I hope that can be seen in this latest series of paintings, in the spontaneous energy of the paint that I apply on the canvas with the combined use of the brush and palette knife. I want to celebrate the beauty of the landscape that surround us here in England and Tuscany in a semi-abstract way. My love for colour combined with carefully constructed composition to hopefully achieve a pleasing balance, appreciating what we have, the landscape, nature, animals, coastline and the sea and all that beautiful inviting memories and the imagination that special gift that we have. For me the need to allow memory and imagination to interact is vital." Giuliana has had numerous Solo Exhibitions, amongst them in, Italy, Switzerland, Michigan USA, London, Glasgow, Leeds, Bradford, Doncaster, Durham and York. She has regularly exhibited at the R.I. and R.O.I. at the Mall Galleries, London. Her work has been three times finalist in Singer & Friedlander and shown at the Discerning Eye Exhibitions in London. She has also won Awards in Rome, Florence, Forte Dei Marmi, Milan, and the R.I., Mall Galleries, London. Her work is in public collections and public commissions in North Yorkshire, Northumberland, York Hospital and York University.

'Le Pont Neuf', gouache on fine art paper, by Lucien Génin (circa 1930s). The Pont Neuf is the oldest standing bridge across the river Seine in Paris, France. It stands by the western point of the Île de la Cité, the island in the middle of the river that was, between 250 and 225 BC, the birthplace of Paris. It is called 'The New Bridge' because at the time of its inauguration (built 1578-1607), it embodied a very modern look compared to other bridges which spanned the Seine. Lucien Génin has captured its beauty in this lively depiction from the 1930s. Just before the bridge is a 'Bateau Mouche' an open excursion boat that provides visitors with a view of the city from along the river. The artwork is in good overall condition commensurate with age and medium used. It has been newly frame with anti-reflective glass. Please enjoy the photos accompanying this listing. Signed by the artist in the lower left hand. Upon request a video may be provided.
