Excellent condition and ready to hang as is
This abstract rendition of one of Adolf Loos' buildings was painted by Rhinecliff, NY based artist, Joseph Maresca, in 2021. Here the artist reinterprets Loos' famous Villa Muller using principles set forth by the De Stijl movement as the building is pared-down into simplistic geometric forms and primary hues of blue, yellow, and red, with contrasts of white, black, and grey. Green formations around the building introduce an element of landscape against a gesturally painted mint green and periwinkle blue background. The abstract architectural painting is complemented with a natural wood floater frame and is in excellent condition.
About the artist:
Born in Brooklyn in 1946, Joseph Maresca earned an industrial design degree at Pratt Institute and a master's degree in art education from New York University. He has experience teaching at the college level and has shown paintings in galleries and various museums across the country. He is included in numerous public and private collections amongst them Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Ridgefield, CT, New Acquisitions, Katonah Musuem, The Industrial Muse, and he has included in various publications, The Tool As Art , published by The National Gallery in Washington, DC (Traveling show). Currently Maresca is represented by Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hduson, NY and Michelle Rosenfeld Gallery in New York City.
