About the Item
At the forefront of the canvas Stefanelli paints two nude female figures, who obviously know each other closely. It is very likely that they represent ladies who worked at a brothel in the Philippines, where the artist and other soldiers were staying during the time of war. The dark colors of the background and chaotic shapes bring the daunting sense of uneasiness, yet two pastel pink figures on the front project the sense of acceptance.
